Note: The 21.4 position is the 3d not 3e position-see several posts down. ![]() This keeps the pulley from sliding back and falling out of the front pivot. Twist the screwdriver to place a small amount of tension so that the pulley is pushed forward and the shaft pushed to the rear. Before tightening, make sure you slip a small screwdriver blade between the rear of the pulley, and the shoulder of the fiber shaft. If it is not at that location, you can adjust it there by using a 4 spline Bristol wrench to loosen the front pulley and then rotate the fiber shaft bringing the PA wafers into alignment. This is the only dot of solder on the wafer center and is the same on all of the radios that I have. This should be at top dead center for the switch to be properly aligned. When the switch is pointing to 21.4 (3e which is full clockwise and then back three positions), there is a small dot of solder on a tab extending toward the center of the central part of the switch wafer that holds the rotating contact surface. The Blue-X wireless adapter from CanCom allows the use of a compatible Bluetooth head- set or accessory, with your two-way radio. Open the top lid and use a flashlight to illuminate the front of the wafer that you see through the slot in the front of the PA cage where the switch shaft enters. I will get in the PA cage today and figure out what to do about the neutralization circuit.įor anyone wishing to check your KWM 2, 32S-1, or 32S-3 PA cage wafer alignment, it can be done with the following simple procedure: I have hooked the signal gen to the circuit after the coupling cap and before the PA tuning condenser (not under power and oscilloscope hooked to the ant) and used the PA tuning to try and find a resonate point with no good results. I don't see any obvious things that could be causing the problem. ![]() C155 is in parallel with one gang of the PA loading condenser. Blue Crown portable transistor radio made in Japan 1970's with original leather case 77.70 Only 1 available Pay in 4 installments of 19.42. I replaced them with a large plastic washer with a nut imbedded (heat the nut and seat) and a #4 machine screw. The trimmer in the bottom of the cage, C155, had the screw and washer missing. It is like there is so much inductance or capacitance being introduced somewhere that the tuning circuit can't find the resonant spot. The PA tune won't dip and increases in output all the way up to minimum capacitance. I can get grid current and plate current on some bands. ![]() The exciter tuning works about as normal. On the 3.8 MHz band, I can get 15 watts out. The transmitter is in a pretty sorry state which alignment doesn't want to cure. That cured the squeal which was a huge relief. One of these was a 220 mFd and was attached to a point in the circuit that defied logic. I pulled the wires from the can and added small filter electrolytics underneath and then removed three electrolytic capacitors from random locations that someone had added in the past. I went through the whole radio and started correcting stuff and aligning. When I turned it on, it received, but squealed with feedback above quarter volume. But it is the same, only the increased crystal locations are the difference. I bought a "parts or restore" KWM-2A last week thinking it would be an upgrade from my KWM-2. ![]()
